If there is two things I have noticed other than chic simplicity in Parisian style it is 1. scarves. everywhere. And 2. consciousness of both weather and belongings

Above are items I have noticed in high amounts in Paris and am either obsessed with or intrigued by, so here we have it:

Obsessed:

Scarves: now that there is a noticeable temperature difference (down 30 degrees from last week’s 90 and humidity) scarves are part of almost everyone’s attire. They are also noticeably an accessory, as opposed to hidden under jackets, and colorful or patterned, as opposed to the classic black.

Well Tailored Outerwear: Outerwear that is worn is well tailored and made from high quality material. I have seen mainly neutral colors. It always looks clean.

Small Leather Backpacks: This is a trend everywhere but with the most practicality in Paris. Pickpockets are everywhere, I’m not sure where they come from, whether they hide under porches or in sewers or behind bushes but they’re always lurking. Parisians are very conscious of their belongings and these small backpacks are both practical and trendy for the city.

Intrigued:

Platform shoes: I have noticed so many platform shoes, specifically on campus. Platform sneakers, platform espadrilles. One pair of platforms so high I could’ve sworn the girl could walk into the Seine and still have stayed dry (okay, not they weren’t that high, but still). Whether this shoe will become as widespread as Stan Smiths who knows, but hey, if there is a group of people who can pull off this trend, it is here.

What do you think?

Trench vest: Boohoo, Thigh-high boots: Cape Robin, Bag: H&M

It’s only the end of August but there is a noticeable chill in the air already. As much as I hate to say it… Fall is coming. But it’s not quite here, so how do you dress for the slight chilliness without pulling out a puffer vest and grabbing your Kate Spade travel mug (assuming you’re going to coffee shop hop begging for pumpkin spice). Well here’s how:

1. Go for a light suede trench vest. You get the warmth of a vest but won’t become overheated.

2. Leggings. I don’t care what anyone says, leggings can definitely be used as pants in circumstances, especially when you have so many other bulky pieces, adding jeans would just add extra weight and you’re not trying to be weighed down when you already have winter months for that ahead.

3. Thigh-high boots. If you don’t have a pair of these yet you need to shoe splurge and now. You will definitely be seeing these everywhere this fall season. Personally, like Kourtney Kardashian, I have been wearing these all summer soo using them as a transition piece is a no brainier since certain labels, such as Steve Madden, have just released their thigh-highs.

4. Always an oversize tote. Whether it be class, work, or just for fun. The bigger the better. I of course recommend a neutral tone for this transition season.

Do you have any recommended transition pieces for this fall season? Let me know!

Preface: I was reading Kim Kardashian’s interview in Harper’s Bazaar in which she stated mirror selfies were her favorite kind of selfie (fun fact). So in a Kim K kind of manner, that is how we’re presenting today’s topic…

As much as I wanted to label this post “Nudes are Back” or something of the sort, I feel like that would’ve given the wrong message about this blog so we’re sticking to a professional aesthetic for today. With that said, if you don’t own a “completely monochromatic outfit in the tan color family” you will be left in the dust this season. Actually… nude color tones have been in style for a while so chip-chop because we’re already behind. Fashion icons, like Kim (once again) and other reality show stars, such as Natalie Halco, have been showing off this look recently. So hey, you’re the star of your own reality show everyday so why not show off this look too? Since it is the end of summer/beginning of fall (cue immense crying and suntans slowly fading), nudes/tans are the perfect transition color without having to go full-on brown. I’m all for a city-chic, urban color palette so I will definitely be lightening up on the browns (literally) in exchange for tans and neutrals these upcoming months.

And of course you don’t have to be go out buying Yeezy Season 3 pieces anytime soon to pull this outfit off. My dress above is from Boohoo.com (shocker) and shoes are Jack Rogers.

Happy Monday everyone!

Pleasee bear with me as I’m still trying to gather myself with building a brand and getting together awesome content for you guys. Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Anyways, with Monday comes 5 (well now 4 I guess) days ahead with outfits that still need to be decided. Working in Manhattan and commuting means I like to go for an outfit that’s not too heavy of a material (since the humidity and lack of AC on the trains is so real) but chic all at the same time. I love shift dresses, they’re so easy, and a classic black dress (in NYC especially) can go a long way and be a savior when sleeping through your 6 am alarm. Throw on a blazer or vest to add some variety and turn a basic dress into business attire, add some block heels (Steve Maddens are always my go to) or gladiator sandals for the summer and you have a simple and easy work outfit ready to go! For accessories you know bigger is better so an oversized gold watch and a large tote are my go-to. Keep working hard ladies.

To all the petite ladies out there… this one is for you.

Being short definitely has some perks and pains that come along with it. Unfortunately, buying clothing tends to be on the pain list. How I would long for long skinny legs to fit into Karl Lagerfeld jeans while looking as fab as Karlie Kloss…*sigh* but on the bright side I can be an undefeated champion of hide and seek, as no space is too small. BUT in all reality there are some bomb clothing websites out there for those of you who, like me, were not naturally selected to be supermodel (or just avergly…) tall.

Anyways continuing on… There’s 3 pieces I find it ESPECIALLY important to buy in petite size and this is why:

Jumpsuits: rompers usually any size can work because there’s no leg material and measurements usually focus on the torso (so unless you’re supermodel tall this isn’t much of an issue). Jumpsuits on the other hand… Yeah… If I ever accidentally pick up regular size I need to wear 8 inch heels to make up for that extra material, and there’s nothing I hate more than investing money into a tailor for a jumpsuit I’m only wearing on nights out. That’s why I LOVE Boohoo (where the above jumpsuit is from). Their clothing is very reasonably priced, they have a petite line, and it’s super sylish. I can always find a $300 item I like on Boohoo for $30 and it makes my day.

Maxi Dresses: on the same line as jumpsuits, I don’t always want to pull out the 8 inch heels or have a train I’m tripping over all day, so petite maxi dresses are an essential. Asos also has a fab petite line that really slays so I suggest checking it out along with their cute lace knee length dress above.

Denim: I’m not the biggest denim fan, especially because they never fit right for me. I splurged once on a nice pair of jeans but other than that you never know when you’re going to loose (or gain) weight and jeans have no forgiveness, so I don’t like spending huge money on just some denim. That plus my short legs… a petite denim pair of jeans is so important. Once again, love Boohoo. Also, Asos has this amazing option of choosing pant length so I can always find great petite jeans on their site.

Other variables: Those are my three essentials but of course everyone varies so I listed another great site with a petite line: New Look. I literally just discovered this site and am obsessed because it takes celeb styles and makes them affordable. PLUS a petite line. Just gold. The U.K. is slaying in recreating celeb styles at reasonable prices (currently all my favorite online shops are U.K based). I don’t tend to mind shirts being a little longer in the torso or sleeves, or dresses not being as mini as they would be if I was 5’7 but if those are your pains of petiteness than this site has some great options as well.

Let me know your thoughts on your petite faves, tips, and tricks! (or if you’re tall, what sites do you suggest for other tall women? I hope to do a post for all of you as well and need some insider advice!)

Xo.

NYC is extremely unique in the sense that natives are visible purely by their fashion. You can pick out a tourist generally in an instant. The beauty of NYC’s particular style is that a $2,000 outfit can be replicated at $50. Why’s this? Because of the lovely palette of neutrals. Neutrals are your go to here. My favorite look is a white button shirt with some leather jeans and a pointed toe flat. Every store you walk into you can find these pieces but since I’m on a college lifestyle kind of budget, I found a white top at H&M and black leather jeans at Zara. I always love a higher quality shoe especially for the city (imagine if your shoe broke 10 blocks out, yikes!) so pointed toe flats such as these ones from Steve Madden are a must. Grab a giant tote, some mirrored avi sunglasses (my previously mentioned obsession) and you’re set to never be mistaken for a tourist at first glance in the Big Apple again.
