The Best of LFW SS21

London Fashion Week brought much creativity, mythical stories, and slouchy silhouettes for us to reflect on for the upcoming season. Thankfully, the more dreaming we can do of a post-pandemic life, the easier it is on our psyche. From all around, there was lots to ponder on and imagine about during the timespan of the SS21 takeover in London. I hope you enjoy these favorites as much as I did!

Burberry

The theme of nature was heavily inspired by Ricardo Tisci’s time spent in it during the past several months. At first in Burberry’s show you think the light, natural vibe of the show will carry through. However, paralleling the past few months, this is not the case, and we’re met with dark leathers and nautical tees that begin to intertwine with the brighter looks, showing us a mix of emotions, almost eerily similar to what quarantine gave us. After all, this was Tisci’s goal, and it worked.

Christopher Kane

Kane’s designs are always unique and themes go beyond the imagination. Kane’s designs this year were all taken from the paintings he did the past months in quarantine and they’re quite brilliant. Like Jackson Pollack meets cotton and glitter. These pieces are fabulous and I’m personally just as blown away as I thought I would be with Kane’s designs.

Halpern

All of the aspects of Halpern’s lookbook this season were beautiful, relevant, and breathe taking. All before any piece of clothing was even seen! Alongside the lookbook, Halpern shot a film of his pieces on essential workers of all ages and clothing sizes. In this film the women speak about their experiences being essential employees in the pandemic era. With a warm heart you then move into looking at the pieces in Halpern’s lookbook and are filled with even more joy. From sharp hourglass silhouettes to exaggerated round ones, you’re met with it all. The bright coloring (of both the clothing and lookbook background), the patterns, and embellishments are all fabulously put together in a fashion week bundle of joy. This was Halpern’s hope and it was certainly met.

Victoria Beckham

The queen herself did it again. The cool effortless style of Victoria Beckham showed up once again this season, and the particularly long trousers proved to me I may no longer need a tailor (just kidding). Beckham kept her looks realistic for post-2020 times but not too comfy. The textures gave all the effortless feel that was needed. Quite honestly, this was the inspiration needed to keep up our everyday fashion.

A lookbook so glamorous that you’ll want to buy a gown just to strut to the kitchen for your morning croissant. I know I do. 16Arlington tested many things in their lookbook, revealing cutouts being one. A few scandalous pieces are exactly what we need when reemerging to the scene, and with 16Arlington that is what we received.
