Continuing right along with some favorite details of summer comes festival season (so cliché, maybe I should start that thought again). Anyway! Getting right to it, 3 weekends ago I went to Gov Ball, one of the biggest East Coast music festivals. This was my second year going and as I wouldn't take myself as a music enthusiast, I pretty much go for the overall experience. Randall's Island (where the festival takes place) is huge so I love how unlike normal general admission concerts you literally don't feel claustrophobic at all (which for me is a major buzz kill). Plus, there's so much going on you need to be able to roam free.
I have never felt more basic for wearing a flower crown but hey, a girl's gotta live as a basic festival beotch once in her life. Now, Not going to lie there was not very much to report on the fashion scene here, everyone was laid back and dressed casually for the most part, unless we're including Tove Lo with her orange eye shadow, in that case she most def won.
Gov Ball doesn't have the same vibe as Coachella, so I was pretty happy I didn't show up rocking suede fringe. Although, who doesn't love a good suede fringe?
Now. You guys. I'm not lying when I say one of the best part of the festivals are the food and drinks because, I mean hello? When do you ever get to drink out of a coconut unless you're 6 days 7 nights in Fiji. I'll wait 😉 Naturally, all items are a bit overpriced but what else would you expect from the city. The Electric Sky Rosé was also amazing, so cute, and super strong. All the up and coming NY food vendors also sell at Gov Ball (edible cookie dough anyone?) so you get to experience all those Facebook video foods all day. I love that everything is local. SO even if you don't want to push through the crowds to get to the front of the stage to see Flume (I did anyway) there's still a multitude of things to discover at Gov Ball while discovering some new artists and earning bragging rights to say you saw Chance perform while your friends sat at home.
What do you guys think of festival season? Overdone or will be around for years to come?
xo.
