How to Dress Like A Parisian: Part 2

How to Dress Like A Parisian: Part 2
If there is two things I have noticed other than chic simplicity in Parisian style it is 1. scarves. everywhere. And 2. consciousness of both weather and belongings
Above are items I have noticed in high amounts in Paris and am either obsessed with or intrigued by, so here we have it:
Obsessed:
  • Scarves: now that there is a noticeable temperature difference (down 30 degrees from last week's 90 and humidity) scarves are part of almost everyone's attire. They are also noticeably an accessory, as opposed to hidden under jackets, and colorful or patterned, as opposed to the classic black.
  • Well Tailored Outerwear: Outerwear that is worn is well tailored and made from high quality material. I have seen mainly neutral colors. It always looks clean.
  • Small Leather Backpacks: This is a trend everywhere but with the most practicality in Paris. Pickpockets are everywhere, I'm not sure where they come from, whether they hide under porches or in sewers or behind bushes but they're always lurking. Parisians are very conscious of their belongings and these small backpacks are both practical and trendy for the city.

Intrigued:

  • Platform shoes: I have noticed  so many platform shoes, specifically on campus. Platform sneakers, platform espadrilles. One pair of platforms so high I could've sworn the girl could walk into the Seine and still have stayed dry (okay, not they weren't that high, but still). Whether this shoe will become as widespread as Stan Smiths who knows, but hey, if there is a group of people who can pull off this trend, it is here.

What do you think?
