My Favorite At Home Workouts For a Quarantine Glow-Up

Hey loves,

Here we are! Things are opening in many parts of the country, even here in New Jersey and New York, BUT gyms still remain closed. Personally, I've grown to love the outdoor and living room workout life but I do miss my instructors at my usual studio. So, I turned this dilemma into an opportunity. I've used this time sign up for fitness apps that I previously convinced myself not to since I had a gym membership. Here are my faves that I highly recommend giving a try:

Yoga/ Pilates

glo.com: For the past year I saw ads on Instagram for glo and wanted to give it a try because it seemed like classes I would LOVE. BUT with my gym workout schedule down to tee, I just couldn't see myself finding time to do ANOTHER workout... then came quarantine (lol). I signed up for glo about 2 days in and honestly am so happy with their array of classes to choose from. To give you an inside look: I was able to try Kundalini yoga, a style I've never done before, to detox from stress. I also tried pilates abs which was probably one of the hardest ab workouts I've done all quarantine. Glo also offers a multitude of classes to stretch out the hips, back, and neck from sitting at a home desk all day.

Perfect For You If... you have a busy schedule. Glo allows you to pick the time duration you want and the specific type of class you crave or need for that day. Best for those of you who love yoga and pilates.

alo moves: If you know you won't be heading back to work for a few weeks and want to try a structured workout plan, I recommend alo moves! They offer courses to really help you get into or improve your practice, no matter what level you are starting from. From them I've been learning how to do inversions! Something I've always wanted to try in class but knew I wasn't there yet. Their site and app is great for perfecting skills before you head back into the studio.

Perfect For You If... you need a month course to motivate you to keep going in your workout progress or want to improve upon certain yoga skills. Also great if you're looking to use this time to advance in your yoga practice all around.

Cardio/ HIIT

Nike Run Club: An oldie but a goodie in my book. I have been using Nike Run Club since high school and keep coming back for more! I love that it GPS tracks you on your run and lets you know your pace every mile. This always motivates me to kick it up a notch. The coaching tools talk you through your longer, more difficult runs and the best part is you can use the training tool to train for races! Super helpful since I'm running a half marathon in September (more to come on that).

Perfect For You If... you like (or don't mind) running, love an outdoor workout, or want to push your athletic abilities.

Barry's Bootcamp: If you are a group class junkie, you know the burn that Barry's creates in their Red Room. Now you can experience all aspects of these classes but at home! From bodyweight to treadmill combo classes you can hit all parts of your training from your living room no matter how much equipment you have readily accessible. The classes, instructed via Zoom, make you feel like you're back in the studio, even if you're taking them from your living room.

Perfect For You If... you miss a group class feel and an instructor's motivation, you love HIIT workouts, you have a treadmill or bike readily accessible that you want to incorporate into your workouts.

GRITBXNG: GRIT is one of my favorite boxing studios in NYC.  Although I can't get the bag or club atmosphere of their studio in my home, I can still get a portion of what I miss from their Instagram Live classes. Through their IG sessions, the instructors from the studio hit you with a workout that gets the heart pumping and sometimes even includes celebrity guest instructors! For a switch up in your normal routine head over to their page and give one of their classes a try!

Perfect For You If... you love trying out something new, you want a workout accessible from your phone or tablet, or simply because you miss your adrenaline pumping boxing classes.

For A Little Bit of It All... (and it all for free)

Peloton: When my friends first told me about the Peloton app I was more curious where everyone was finding thousands of dollars to buy a Peloton bike...little did I know. After all the positive reviews I decided to give it a try myself. Now I'm obsessed. From core training programs to audio guided runs, this app is the best if you get bored with the same workout easily and want to switch it up. Best of all, you get a month for free!

Perfect For You If... you want a mix of workouts all in one place, you want a premade running playlist or audio guide, or you want a course on toning a specific muscle group (summer bod 2021 here we come!)

Nike Training Club: Because of the Covid crisis, Nike has made the premium version of this app free! So whether you're in the mood for weight training, a little yoga, have 5 or 45 minutes to workout, there's a little bit of everything here. This app is great to have even once you're back on the go and only have time for a 15 minute muscle burn.

Perfect For You If... you are using the Nike Run Club app that has workouts as a part of your weekly schedule, you want specific instructions on how to perform a movement, you love quick but challenging sequences.

That is what I have been using. What are some of your favorite workout apps and sites? Let me know so I can give them a try!
