My time in Amsterdam was limited, 48 hours to be exact, but that was certainly enough to discover the best the city has to offer. If you want a great experience (whether or not you're going for the notorious coffeeshops and other novelty Amsterdam things) here are the crème de la crème:
Coffee and Coconuts: I read about this place right before my trip on Bloglovin's The Edit and thank goodness I did. This is the ultimate nirvana. 3 floors of a relaxed vibe and getting giant bean bags as chairs. We went here for dinner after a long day and it was definitely a rejuvenator. I recommend the Korean Shrimp Tacos and Rosé
Blushing: I don't even know where to begin with how adorable this place is. Right down the street from the Van Gogh museum, perfect for a breakfast beforehand. Everything is healthy and fresh. They have a large selection of health savvy smoothies and coffee. I recommend: Eggs Benedictus and hazelnut macchiato
Van Gogh Museum: one of the biggest attractions in Amsterdam and for good reason. Van Gogh's life is so interesting it isn't just an art museum but a walk through the life of painter who went from amateur to world renown.
Red Light Secrets: I'm going to let you do research on this one but also one of the most popular museums to visit in Amsterdam. It gives you an inside look on a profession that is legal here. The "Red Light District" is one of the largest sections of Amsterdam so why not learn the history behind it?
*Note: if you plan to visit the Anne Frank house definitely book the tickets over a month in advance. They sell out super fast and the line to buy onsite is usually over 2 hours (hence why it isn't on this list)
Experiences:
Amsterdam Icebar: If there's one place you need to go, even just for a drink, it's here. Buy tickets in advance because the time slots fill up fast but for only 18€ you get admission and 3 drinks (how can you pass that up?) See how long you can survive the cold (bet you it's no longer than a half an hour). Drinks are given in molded ice glasses to make things even better.
The Heineken Expereince: Heineken is basically the only beer served in Amsterdam so go see what it's all about at the brewery.
Think you'll be making a stop in Amsterdam soon?
